What types of art will my child learn?

In our Junior and Young Artists programs we commonly teach 3-4 projects throughout the term which include a canvas painting on canvas, a drawing and watercolour project and a multimedia project which can include clay sculpture or collage. In our older teen programs students work with a variety of mediums and do some short projects over the span of a term as well as some longer projects which run over several weeks.

Each term students will reference different artists and art movements from history. Commonly the students will learn about both classical and contemporary artists who are relevant to the focus of term.

No prior experience is needed for our children’s classes; however, all children that join us in the studio must have the behavioral skill to listen to instruction and follow a step by step project.

We have many skilled and friendly teachers at the Melbourne Studio of Art. Click here to view our studio staff and who will be teaching your course.

What is your student-to-teacher ratio?

At our studio we take pride in class quality and supervision. If the class had more than 12 individuals there often is an assistant in the studio to help out in the class.

Our studio is a welcoming space for individuals of all abilities. If you as the student or your child who you are enrolling has any special needs or learning difficulties,  please reach out to discuss accommodations. Our staff are not qualified special needs support workers, however can accommodate for mild special needs students who are high functioning.

If a child is unwell in class, the parent/guardian of this child will be contacted immediately. Our staff are CPR and First Aid trained.

How early should I book for holiday workshops?

Our School Holiday Programs are quite a popular time of the year. We suggest booking in as early as possible as spaces often fill quickly
